Florida’s Disability Savings Program

It is no secret that individuals with exceptional needs require additional assistive services, medical treatment, support, therapy and/or equipment. Too often, these specialized needs result in exorbitant expenses, leaving many families and individuals to rely on government benefits for support.

Since its official launch in July 2016, ABLE United has provided thousands of Floridians with special needs a new way to save without affecting public government benefits like Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Medicaid. The introduction of ABLE United provides an economical way to save with the potential for tax-free growth – an opportunity Floridians in this community previously did not have.

To get started, all you have to do is contribute as little as $25 – and then you can contribute what you can, when you can to meet your financial goals. The best part is, anyone can contribute to an account and the funds can be used at any time to pay for expenses that help improve or maintain health, independence or quality of life, including:

  • Assistive technology

  • Education

  • Health

  • Support services

  • Transportation

  • Basic Living Expenses

With the recent addition of account features like the FDIC-insured savings option, live chat with customer service and enhanced gifting page, there’s never been a better time to start saving.

And, our account holders agree:
